After months of renovations, thoughtful design, and moving through temporary office spaces, Planning Alternatives was proud to open its doors to clients, friends, family, and the greater Birmingham community for an Open House event. The Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce commemorated the occasion by hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, publicly recognizing Planning Alternatives’ presence in downtown Birmingham and celebrating a bright future ahead for the firm.
The office itself is open concept in design, carefully cultivated for collaboration and tailored to the comfort of those who come in. No formal offices can be found within the space, instead there are five designated meeting rooms, each named after one of the Great Lakes – an homage to the natural beauty surrounding Michigan and the mid-east region of the United States. Each meeting space varies in formality, some with large conference tables and chairs, others with causal couches and seating for informal talks, all boasting a beautiful photo of the lake which it is named after.
In sharing the new space, Planning Alternatives was fortunate to host Michelle Murphy and Karen Kazmer from Variety – the Children’s Charity Detroit for a portion of the afternoon. Variety has been providing support and essential services to children with unique and special needs in the Detroit community since 1932. Many of their initiatives revolve around providing mobility to children who may not have the means to access it or require adaptive methods for special needs situations.
Planning Alternatives was proud to donate 10 brand new bikes, helmets, and locks for children to take home at Variety Bike Night this June. Bike Night will enable mobility and independence for 150 children in the Detroit community, all of whom will receive their very first bike. It was a pleasure to host our friends from Variety and hear more about the incredible work they do for children across the metro Detroit area.
