Describe one thing you loved growing up:
I loved leaving the house early in the morning and not returning home until it was dark. Of course, I checked in and I’m sure the other parents let my parents know where I was, but being young and not having a care in the world was a blast. I could play any sport I wanted all day long or just jump on a trampoline for hours on end. I came home exhausted and ready to go to bed, then wake to tackle a new day.
Describe the longest road trip you’ve been on:
My high school friend and I moved from our small hometown in Illinois to graduate school at Texas Tech, in Lubbock, TX. What started off as a casual 16-hour drive through country towns in Iowa, quickly turned into a blizzard in Nebraska, and running out of gas on the Kansas Turnpike. As we began to fear we would freeze to death overnight before someone found us, an amused officer tapped on our window and provided us with enough gas to make it to the nearest gas station. Little did we know, we were less than a quarter mile away from the gas station.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My father-in-law, Paul. I grew up an only child and my mom a single parent. I didn’t have a positive male figure in my life, so I learned how to become a man by trial and error. Paul has taught me to care for others by being a model husband, father, and a great friend. He does so much for others and doesn’t expect anything but a thank you in return.
